Hi everyone and welcome to Gumshoe Property Inspection LLC! My name is Bryce Kibbey and I am
the owner and primary inspector. Our goal is to provide the highest quality home inspection services
to the greater Houston metro area.

The goal for this blog, beyond this introduction, is to provide homebuyers and sellers – both first time
and veteran – with timely, informative articles on all things related to the homebuying, selling and
inspection process(es).

So, a little about myself. I have a wide range of experiences under my belt. I joined the Navy when I
was 19 and enjoyed a 10 year career there as an Interior Communications Electrician. I was stationed
on an aircraft carrier – U.S.S. Ranger CV-61 – for five years where we did multiple deployments. I
spent the last 3 years of that career as a staff instructor at Interior Communications Electrician Class A
School in San Diego, CA.

From there I transitioned out of the Navy and then spent the next 3 years living in Bahrain, which is a
small island nation in the Persian Gulf near Saudi Arabia. I moved there with my wife who was active
duty Navy at the time. While there I worked as a civilian for the Supply Department at the U.S. Navy
installation, working at the airport managing military air cargo shipments throughout the Persian Gulf
region.

Upon returning to the U.S., in 1997 I began a 26+ year career in the retail loss prevention industry
working on the solution provider side. I worked for two different companies in that time. These were
technology solutions providing RF, RFID hardware and software to major retailers. During this career I
was at various times a Field Engineer (the boots on the ground if you will…), a Product Manager,
Technical Support Manager, and Channel Partner Business Development Manager. I transitioned out
of that career in September 2024.

So why property inspection now? It’s a good question but for me it’s a natural pivot. For the
prospective home buyer this is an emotional experience. It’s a house yes, but it’s also the home
where they envision making memories, starting a family, celebrating milestones. All important, great
stuff.

But the job of the home inspector is to take the emotion out of it while representing the client. For
the home inspector the house is a structure yes, but also a collection of technology encompassing
many areas – structural technology, HVAC technology, plumbing and electrical technology. And Home
Inspectors are trained to understand how this technology works and identify areas of concern. I like
to say I provide “actionable intelligence to make informed decisions”. And I believe my background
working with various technology has positioned me well for this industry.
