Thermal Imaging

The use of thermal imaging cameras has seen rapid adoption in the home inspection field over the last decade. They allow inspectors to find or detect areas of elevated moisture in walls, ceilings and attics. And also to identify areas where insulation may be insufficient or lacking altogether. However it’s use is not mandated in any state required Standard of Practice (SOP) nor in any SOP of home inspector trade associations, such as ASHI or InterNACHI.

At Gumshoe Property Inspection LLC we embrace this technology and it accompanies us to every home inspection. We believe it’s a valuable “above and beyond” tool that can be used to validate areas of concern. We use it during inspections at our own discretion. If areas of concern are found using this technology the images from the imaging camera are included in the home inspection report.

It’s important for us to point out that we use thermal imaging to supplement and add value to our home inspection services. We do not use it to provide a complete thermal survey of the home. There is no additional charge when we use thermal imaging during our inspections.
